AirAsia KL Junior League rules

Rules

All games and matches played in the AirAsia KL Junior League adhere to the following rules, as set out by the League Committee.

1. League Format

Under-8
  • Will play 7 a side football
  • The duration of each match will be 3 x 15 minutes.
  • The pitch size will be 46L x 26W
Under-10
  • Will play 7 a side football
  • The duration of each match will be 3 x 15 minutes.
  • The pitch size will be 46L x 26W
Under-12
  • Will play 9 a side football
  • The duration of each match will be 2 x 25 minutes.
  • The pitch size will be 59L x 50W
UNDER-14 and Under-16
  • Will play 11 a side football
  • The duration of each match will be 2 x 25 minutes.
  • The pitch size will be 100L x 59W

2. Draw for League

  • The League Committee will conduct a draw for groups in all age-groups. A fixture list will then be circulated to all participating teams and published on our website at www.kljuniorleague.my

3. Players

Player Eligibility:  
a) Under 8: Born 2010 and later
b) Under 10: Born 2008 and later
c) Under 12: Born 2006 and later
d) Under 14: Born 2004 and later
e) Under 16: Born 2002 and later (with a maximum of 2 players born 2001 and later) 

  • Each team is allowed to register a maximum of 25 players per age group.  All players must abide strictly to the age categories as listed above, with the exception of female players, who may be two years older in each age category. If a team has not maxed out their squad they may register players throughout the season.
  • Teams are required to complete the registration form and submit a photocopy of birth certificate/identity card or passport to the League Committee.

4. Pitch and Footwear

  • Playing area is a FIFA certified 2* astroturf pitch.
  • Players may wear studded soccer shoes with plastic studs (metal studs soccer boots are not allowed).
  • Players must wear shin-guards throughout the course of the league.

5. Balls

  • U8, U10 & U12 will use size 4 match balls.
  • U14 & U16 will use size 5 match balls.

6. Red and Yellow cards

  • Players shown a Red card are sent-off immediately and banned from play for one (1) full match

7. Offside

  • The offside rule will not be used in U8 & U10. The offside rule will apply in the U12, U14 and U16 age-groups.

8. GOAL KICKS AND KICK-OFFS

  • U8 and U10 teams cannot score directly from goal kicks or kick-offs. The ball must be passed to a teammate.

9. Substitutions

  • Substitutions may happen at any time during the match given the referee has given consent.
  • The substitute must wait for the player to leave the pitch before entering.
  • When substituting goalkeepers, the team must notify the referee when the ball is out-of-bounds for the substitution to happen.
  • Substituted players shall be allowed to re-enter during the same match (rolling substitutions).

10. Minimum number of players

  • The minimum number of players to start each half varies with age-group.
  • If a team fails to field the minimum number of players a walkover shall be awarded to the opponents with full points and a registered score of 3–0 or the actual score at the time of stopping play, whichever is the higher.

a) Under-8 – minimum players: 4
b) Under-10 – minimum players: 4
c) Under-12 – minimum players: 6
d) Under-14 – minimum players: 7
e) Under-16 – minimum players: 7


11. Time allowance

  • A maximum of five (5) minutes allowance shall be allowed after the starting whistle by the referee, after which a walkover shall be awarded to the opponents with full points and a registered score of 3-0.

12. Points system

  • Win: 3 points
  • Draw: 1 point
  • Loss: 0 points

13. Teams tied in the League

  • In the event that two or more teams are tied on points at the end of the league, goal difference shall be used to settle the tie. If the teams are still level the team that has the greatest number of goals scored will advance. If the teams are still level the result between the teams when they played each other will decide their order. Failing a distinction, penalty kicks will be used to settle the matter.

14. Act of God

  • If the field becomes unsuitable for play due to heavy rain, lightning or for any other reasons, the League Committee reserves the right to decide on the event or change the format of the event.

15. Jurisdiction

  • In the event of a protest or dispute, the League Committee shall have sole jurisdiction in settling the matter.

16. INSURANCE

  • It is highly recommended that teams obtain their own insurance cover before play. Little League Soccer Sdn Bhd is not responsible for any accident, injury or death that may occur during this league, and all teams enter at their own risk.
